Vivica Fox Wants A “Soul Food” Sequel, But Do We Need One?

Vivica Fox

Vivica Fox may have gotten emotional while celebrating the birthday of a former co-star from the 1997 film Soul Food. So emotional that she started planning money moves that I’m NOT quite sure are worth its weight in gold. Details, inside.

While celebrating the birthday of actor, Brandon Hammon, Vivica Fox got candid about the idea of them filming another Soul Food movie.

and YEESS we should do #SoulFood2TheMovie

I literally just watched Soul Food last weekend. I hadn’t seen it since it premiered in theaters back in 1997. The fact that the film celebrated its 20th anniversary last year may have caused Fox and Hammon to discuss a sequel, but I have to say: Pass. Why? Two words: Tyler Perry.

Let’s face it, Tyler Perry can’t be the only filmmaker to write stories about Black families coming together. We did get This Christmas and Almost Christmas from two different screenwriters. But, we also have: Madea’s Big Happy Family. A Madea Christmas, and Madea’s Family Reunion. With that said, if we’re going to get another Black film, which I HOPE we do, can it please be about something other than family?

What do you think? Do you want a Soul Food 2?
