Thugs + The Women Who Love Them

Thugs + The Women Who Love Them, well if that isn’t the story of my life. Okay, not really but I’ve always wanted to date a Tupac ie an intellectual thug. Unfortunately in the case of the men featured in bestselling author Wahida Clark’s musical, Thugs + The Women Who Love Them, they were definitely no Tupac Shakurs.’ My review inside.

Thugs + The Women Who Love Them

On Sunday, I was given the opportunity to check out the hip-hop musical at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. I was uber excited to watch a handful of reality stars dabble in the fine arts. No, but to be serious for a moment, the cast included K. Michelle, Lyfe Jennings, Boosie Badazz and yes, Ray J…and his gut.

I’m telling you, Ray J’s new post-wedding weight was a character in itself. I loved it!

In case you’ve never read the book, the story is about four different gal pals who are stuck between loving their thugs and wanting a better life.

Thugs + The Women Who Love Them

I absolutely loved this musical. From K. Michelle belting out her hits (and getting naked) to Lyfe Jennings telling his girl, Lisa, that he’s here for her “mentally, physically, spiritually and economically” you know, before he goes and shoots her other man.

Thugs + The Women Who Love Them is produced by theater producer Melvin Childs of Produced By Faith and directed by Zadia Ife.
