Thom Yorke Discusses Radiohead Hiatus + Solo Album

Thom Yorke

Thom Yorke, that’s my guy. He’s literally created some of my most favorite music. Favorite, to the point that I can and do listen to his work practically everyday. His work, being the music he’s created with the band Radiohead. But, now that their world tour is wrapping up, Thom has solo projects on the brain…

During their interview with Rolling Stone, Thom Yorke opened up about Radiohead’s plans after their last tour stop on July 19th. Will we ever hear new music from them again? “I would imagine we’ll keep going. I mean, I don’t know how, or when, but no, we’re not gonna stop. I fucking hope not.” York said.

Phew. Although him saying fans may hear another Radiohead album isn’t getting my tail to wag since I had to wait five years for A Moon Shaped Pool. Which means, I may not get another album until I’m 40! Hopefully I can have a husband and a new record by then. But, even if it takes that long, it seems this band isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. When asked if they’ll play into their ’70s, Ed O’Brien said, “Everybody would like to see Pink Floyd do it. If we were to do it, it would have to be authentic. It might be like the Rolling Stones.”

We may say goodbye to Radiohead once the curtain closes on July 19th, but prepare to see new projects from Thom Yorke. “There’s also a bunch of things I’m doing on my own that I have to finish.” The 48 year-old released his amazing solo album, The Eraser, in 2006. He did put out a second album, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes, but I haven’t listened to it yet. “They’ve been on hold for ages. Whether they will translate into anything, I’m not quite sure. It’s kind of weird. I don’t have a plan for the second part of the year at the moment. I mean, I wasn’t able to plan things for a long time now and now I can. I’m trying to get my head around that.”he added.

A new album from Thom Yorke. Radiohead playing until they’re 70. I’m looking forward to the future.

Let's talk about it!
