Fans of Rihanna have been questioning her character ever since the release of her single Birthday Cake. Their doubt isn’t because of her raunchy lyrics, but because her ex-boyfriend that physically assaulted her Chris Brown, collaborated on the track with her.
The music producer who worked on the record with Rihanna, The Dream, said that it was in fact her choice to add Brown on the song saying, “I don’t know how she got the logistics and how it happened-maybe she’ll talk about it one day. I show up at the studio, and it was like, ‘All right, cool, let’s finish this record.’

It’s been three years plus makeups and breakups with new significant others since the tragedy between Rihanna and Brown. Although people may have their negative attitude towards the collaboration, The Dream, doesn’t think you should worry, “For me, it’s just music–two talented people doing a record together, doing two records together, and that’s what it was.”
