Oprah Winfrey is on a mission to not only be the richest woman in the world, but the healthiest. But, after watching the Netflix documentary What the Health on Monday, I’m not too sure about her latest business venture. Details inside.
USA Today reports that Oprah Winfrey has collaborated with Kraft Heinz to launch “healthy” comfort foods. Is there such a thing? The refrigerated soups and side dishes will be called “O, That’s Good.” I can’t. A few products include a creamy parmesan pasta with white bean puree, cheese and broccoli cheddar soup infused with butternut squash and mashed potatoes mixed with cauliflower. I don’t know about you guys, but that stuff doesn’t sound very healthy. Besides, everyone knows its all about eating clean and NOT eating microwaved foods. Why can’t someone buy potatoes, cauliflower and mash them up themselves so there won’t be any unnecessary additives?
“It all started with the idea for the cauliflower mashed potatoes — the twist is really what sparked this whole idea. I was sitting at my table in my own home and had whipped up some cauliflower, trying to make myself think I was eating mashed potatoes, but it was not working. So I thought, ‘What if I used a portion of the mashed potatoes and added the cauliflower? Then, I would have a substantive mashed potato-cauli dish.” said Oprah Winfrey.
Now, she knows she has a personal chef! Side dishes will cost you $4.49 while soups retail for $4.99. “I’ve been asked over the years to attach my name to many product lines and would turn them down, because it really has to feel authentic to me. In this case, everyone knows I love healthy foods and cooking with food straight from my garden. I am always looking to make my meals more nutritious, without compromising on the comfort elements I love.” Oprah added.
