Ladies and gentleman, the countdown is officially over. Thursday came and Mac Miller premiered the first single off his upcoming album. The song is titled Dang! and it’s definitely not what I expected. When comparing to the songs off his last album GO:OD AM, Miller has gone from hip booty-shaking beats to a groovy sound. And I can dig it.
The 24-year-old premiered Dang! while appearing as a guest on Beats 1 radio with Zane Lowe, Thursday. The single is the first off Mac Miller’s fourth upcoming album which will be called The Devine Feminine. “It was actually a concept that was told to me about just the energy of the world being a female energy, the energy of the planet.” said Miller. Maybe it was Pharrell Williams who told him, being that his album GIRL was based off a very similar female theory.
“And just kind of like how that mirrors the soul of a woman, and you know, like Mother Earth and falling in love with the universe.” he added. Whether inspired by my imaginary husband or not, there’s enough room for both Mac Miller and Pharrell.
The Devine Feminine will be released September 16th. In the meantime, listen to Dang! and checkout the rapper’s upcoming tour dates.
