James Franco won a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical. And he deserved it. What he doesn’t deserve, in my opinion, are the women who are coming out of the woodworks and speaking on his past that’s already been spoken on…
We all know that people have haters; espeially when they’re winning. James Franco right now, is winning. He did an outstanding job playing Tommy Wiseau in the film, Disaster Artist. During the first 10 minutes of it, I said, Oh shucks, he deserves a Golden Globe. Oh shucks, because I thought he was in the same category as Timothee Chalamet.
Anyway, immediately after James Franco accepted his award, women, one in particular, went a on tweeting frenzy calling James a bad man. Actress Alley Sheedy, known for her work in the ’80s film, The Breakfast Club, tweeted:
Why is a man hosting? Why is James Franco allowed in? Said too much. Nite love ya.
Sheedy questioned why Seth Meyers hosted the Golden Globes since women dressed in black, to bring awareness to every woman AND MAN that’s ever been sexually assaulted in the workplace. Actor Terry Crews, a man, recently revealed that Hollywood head honcho Harry Weinstein, made advances at him in exchange for bettering his career. So, Ally Sheedy, that’s why a man was able to host the Golden Globes.
And, the under-handed shade to James Franco, was given over a situation that happened between him and a 17 year-old girl yearssss ago. What had happened was: James private messaged a female tourist he met while attending NYU. The girl turned out to be 17 years-old; which is the LEGAL AGE OF CONSENT in New York; but Ally Sheedy doesn’t want to mention that. He didn’t even meet up with the girl but of course, she posted their conversation on the internet. During a visit on Livewith Regis and Kelly, he spoke on doing better and apologized for his actions.
Thennnn, a struggling actress (#Shade) named Violet Paley posted on Instagram saying,:
Cute #TIMESUP pin James Franco. Remember the time you pushed my head down in a car towards your exposed penis & that other time you told my friend to come to your hotel when she was 17? After you had already been caught doing that to a different 17 year old?
Once again, she was 17 years-old IE the legal age in New York and California. She then went on to say that James later called and apologized for his actions. Now, does James Franco need to stop talking to teenage girls? YES. Has he? Probably, because like Alley Sheedy, Violet brought up something that happened years ago. Unfortunately, the past is affecting his present because The New York Times canceled their TimesTalk event with Franco last night. I don’t they did that because they’re unhappy with his actions. They canceled it because they didn’t want to look bad.
And speaking of last night, the former Freaks & Geeks star spoke on the women mentioned during a sit-down with Stephen Colbert. He said,
The things I heard are not accurate, but I completely support people coming out because they didn’t have a voice for so long. I don’t want to shut them down in anyway. I think its a good thing and I support it. I have no idea what I did to Ally Sheedy. I have total respect for her. She took the tweet down, I can’t speak for her. I can’t live if there’s restitution to be made. If I’ve done something wrong, I will fix it. I have to.
