Katy Perry definitely has something to roar about.
She has the #1 album in the country, is madly in love with the gorgeous John Mayer and has become a successful pop star without having to shed her clothes or have a sexy persona like some female artists.
The beautiful brunette covers the new issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. Inside she dishes on her current love affair with the romantic John Mayer.
The inspiration for the Prism track “Legendary Lovers”: “I actually wrote it in an email one time, and after I wrote it I looked — we had a long courtship before anything was [public], just writing letters to each other — and seeing ‘legendary lovers,’ it sounded so nice. Some things float into my mind, and I process them, and [then] I make songs about them.
Doesn’t it sound like these two have a fairy tale relationship?
One thing that I admire about Katy Perry is how motivational her music is. From “Firework” to “Roar”, Perry is always writing music that is inspirational to not just young teenagers but anyone that needs a little boost of confidence every once in a while.
Compare her lyrics to that of Miley Cyrus, who condones popping the drug Molly, performing the overtly sexual dance of twerking and getting drunk- well, here is what Katy has to say.
She’s what, 19 or 20? She’s just living her life. She’s super young, and there’s no directing book on how to do this. Each of us find our own way, and some of us make it out alive and some of us don’t. I mean, Madonna was naked [too]. The thing is, people come to me and ask me, out of default, what I think about all these girls, but at the end of it all I shouldn’t be considered the behavior police, because I’m not always going to be on my best behavior.
Katy’s new album Prism is in stores now.
