Aziz Ansari looks so dapper for GQ magazine’s new Style issue. Not only does one of my favorite writers cover the magazine, but he gets quite candid about singledom and quitting all social media. Interview inside.
I was already a fan of Aziz Ansari, but I became an even bigger one after he premiered the hit Netflix series, Master of None. Its a story about the trials and tribulations of dating in your ’30s. This is not only a topic the 34-year-old has written about, but one he lives. “I haven’t invested in my personal life the way that I have in my professional life. I’m way more dedicated to my professional life. And I realized that recently.”
Sounds just like a man, since their happiness is based on level of sucess. But, if dating life is anything like Aziz’s Tinder episode for the second season of Master of None, then he isn’t missing out on anything. Well, except companionship and the chance at finding love. For those ladies wondering his type: “someone I would be thrilled to do nothing with who would be as equally thrilled to do nothing with me.” Same!
Yeah, I’d rather have a successful television show too. Aside from not having a girlfriend, something else Aziz Ansari lacks is a social life. Meaning, he has deleted all social media, email and even the internet from his cellphone. “Whenever you check for a new post on Instagram or whenever you go on The New York Times to see if there’s a new thing, it’s not even about the content. It’s just about seeing a new thing. You get addicted to that feeling. You’re not going to be able to control yourself.” he said.
Email though? I totally get where he’s coming from because I wouldn’t have social media accounts either if it weren’t for running Hollywood Tattle Tale. But email, I don’t have an assistant, so I can’t expect someone to inform me of new opportunities. But, lucky him! Would you ever cut social media out of your life?
